Ditch The Soda Habit With Lemon & Orange Infused Water

There have been several high profile medical studies about the ill effects of drinking sodas, which include obesity, Type 2 diabetes, and even an elevated risk of stroke. According to a 2014 study published in the American Journal of Public Health, even switching to diet sodas doesn’t help weight loss or even with reducing your calorie intake.

New Study

If you needed any other reasons to kick that soda habit, another recent study published in the American Heart Association journal Stroke looked at 3,000 participants over the age of 45 and their consumption of both sugar-filled drinks and diet soda. Looking at the results over a 10 year period, it turns out that those who drank artificially sweetened diet sodas actually had a higher risk of a number of problems, including heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, stroke, and even dementia.

That means any soda – diet or regular sugary style – just isn’t good for you.

Citrus-Infused Water

Drinking water instead of soda is a no-brainer. You’re adding hydration instead of calories and sugar. By infusing the water with citrus fruits, you’re adding vitamins and nutrients back into the equation.

Top Tip: Try using carbonated or naturally bubbly mineral water instead of regular water for an added treat. If you do, then you’ll want to make up your infusions one glass at a time and simply let the fruit soak in the water for a few minutes before enjoying it.

Here are some tasty ideas. Simply fill a pitcher (about 6 cups) with the fruit, add water, and then let it steep. It will keep in the fridge for a few days, and you’ll be getting the benefit of the pulp, and all the nutrients in the peel too.
