
Lemon Burgers
Lemon, like salt, is a natural flavor enhancer. It may not seem like a natural addition to your usual burgers and steaks grilling toolkit, but this recipe is sure to change your mind. Along with lemon, herbs and other seasonings make this a scene stealer at the next potluck, with a couple of variations to try.
Ingredients
Basic Lemon Burger:
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 lemon zest & juice
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ⁄2pepper
- 1 egg lightly beaten
Optional adds:
- 1 lemon zest & juice
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 shallots thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon fresh oregano chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
Basic lemon burgers:
- Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl.
- Use a fork or your hands to blend the ingredients thoroughly.
- Divide into four to six patties, and grill for about 4 to 6 minutes on each side. You can also cook them on a skillet, or even broil them in the oven.
Optional lemon herbed burgers:
- Combine all the optional ingredients in a bowl.
- Add 3-4 tablespoons to the basic ground beef mixture, and blend together.
- Form patties and grill or fry as desired.
- As they cook, use the vinaigrette you've made to baste them.
- When the burgers are done, remove from the heat, and drizzle with the remaining vinaigrette while they are hot.
