Crust:
  1. Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly grease a 9” x 13” baking pan, and line with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the butter into chunks in a large mixing bowl. Beat until it is creamy in texture.
  3. Add the sugar and continue to beat until it has a fluffy consistency.
  4. Now, add the flour, almond meal, orange zest and salt until well combined.
  5. Form the dough into a ball and press it into the bottom of the baking pan you’ve prepared.
  6. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. The edges should just be starting to show a golden brown color.
Filling:
  1. Measure the sugar and flour into a bowl and stir together to combine.
  2. Add the eggs and whisk until blended.
  3. Add the orange juice and zest last, blending them into the mixture.
  4. Pour over the hot crust and bake an additional 20 minutes or so. The filling should be set.
  5. Remove from the oven and allow to dust with powdered sugar and/or sliced almonds if desired.
Recipe Notes

*Note: the 4 oranges should make about 1 cup of juice
